Introduction
Gastrovia-D is intended to help manage symptoms associated with excess stomach acid and reflux, including heartburn and acid-related discomfort. It should be used according to the advice of a qualified healthcare professional and the approved prescribing information.
Uses
Gastrovia-D is intended for the management of acid-related gastrointestinal conditions, particularly gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and symptoms associated with acid reflux. Pantoprazole reduces gastric acid production, while Domperidone supports gastrointestinal motility. The combination may be used under medical supervision for reflux-related symptoms such as heartburn and associated upper gastrointestinal discomfort.
How It Works
Gastrovia-D combines the actions of Pantoprazole and Domperidone. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that blocks the gastric H⁺/K⁺-ATPase proton pump in stomach parietal cells, reducing the production of gastric acid. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine D2-receptor antagonist that promotes gastrointestinal motility and supports gastric emptying. Together, these actions help reduce acid-related reflux symptoms and associated gastrointestinal discomfort.
Dosage
The usual adult dose is one capsule once daily, preferably before a meal, or as directed by a qualified physician. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew, crush, or open it. The appropriate duration of treatment should be determined by the prescribing physician
Side Effects
Gastrovia-D may cause mild side effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, vomiting, dry mouth, or flatulence. These effects are generally reported with pantoprazole and/or domperidone-containing medicines.
Precautions
Gastrovia-D should be used under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional. Patients with liver or kidney impairment, cardiac conditions, or a history of abnormal heart rhythm should inform their physician before use. Domperidone can increase the risk of QT-interval prolongation and cardiac arrhythmias in susceptible patients.
